Fans of Aquaman won't be seeing the superhero's stand-alone movie until late 2018 but since the upcoming DC Extended Universe (DCEU) installment is already in the pre-production stage, more details about the Jason Momoa starrer are coming to light. Patrick Wilson, who was cast as the film's villain earlier this month, recently talked about the upcoming film.

Wilson will be playing ORM, also known as Ocean Master, who is the half-brother of Aquaman. He is powerful, jealous and Aquaman's rival to the throne to Atlantis. According to Deadline, Aquaman and ORM's relationship will be similar to the dynamics between Thor (Chris Hemsworth) and Loki in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

In an interview with ABC Radio's "GMA After Hours," Wilson revealed the reason why he took the role. With filming scheduled to start next year, the actor also expressed excitement in getting to meet Momoa.

"I think the lure of Aquaman [is] because he hasn't been overexposed on screen. And I don't know Jason — I can't wait to meet him. I was a huge fan even from the first episode of Game of Thrones, so I'm in — I'm in with him, and he's gonna be fantastic," he explained.

Wilson also explained that filming the movie will be interesting because it's only now that the industry has gained the technology that they will need in order to tell the story of Aquaman. Furthermore, the actor cited his close relationship with "Aquaman" director James Wan as a reason for joining the film. The two previously collaborated on "The Conjuring" and "Insidious" horror film franchises.

"And for me, of course, I'm completely biased with James Wan, who I've done four films with k Knowing that he's at the helm and knowing what he ... can do and what he will do, I'll do anything with him," the actor said.

Aside from Wilson and Momoa, the upcoming film will also star Amber Heard as Aquaman's wife, Queen Mera; and Willem Dafoe as Nuidis Vulko, a scientific advisor to Aquaman.

"Aquaman" is scheduled to arrive in theaters on Oct. 5, 2018. Before that, fans will be able to see Aquaman in the DCEU team-up movie "Justice League" premiering on Nov. 10, 2017.
