'Attack on Titan' season 2 release date news: Elaborate backstory of Titan origin to be expected? Launch in 2017?

The fans' long wait for the return of the popular TV anime series "Attack of Titan" for its second season will reportedly not be over until the following year. While in anticipation for its season 2, for now avid fans can only hinge on speculations involving its actual release date and its plotline. "Attack on Titan" season 2 is said to contain a story arc that will detail more clearly the origin of the Titans.

The upcoming season of "Attack on Titan" will highlight the clash between the 104^{th Trainees Squad and the Titans that infiltrated the wall. It will also witness the upheaval and uprising of humanity following the corrupt ways of the king and his eventual decline.}

New characters to be introduced in the "Attack on Titan" season 2 will include Captain Kenny Ackerman, Uri Reiss, Rod Reiss, Frieda Reiss, and the Beast Titan. Since a major plotline will be involving the king, the second season of the anime series will also delve more deeply into the story of the noble family of Reiss.

Humanity was endangered and was on the verge of destruction and disappearance a hundred years ago when the First King put up a huge wall intended to have been defense and shield for the survivors where they could restore the society.

Prior to his death, the First King turned over the powerful legacy to the family of Reiss, who, in turn, would continue passing this legacy on from one generation to the other.

On the other hand, the members of the Ackerman family have a special gift of immunity to having their memories erased by the king. This gift has constantly placed the Ackermans in trouble. Many of them were persecuted and murdered by the royal family. As a retribution, Kenny Ackerman sought Uri and Rod Reiss. However, Kenny's attempt at revenge failed because Uri, who turned out to have better strength than what he seemed to have, was able to defend himself and Rod. Uri then asked for forgiveness for the suffering which his family caused the Ackerman family through many years. This started the bond between Kenny and Uri. Kenny even becomes Uri's guardian in the Military Police.

Meanwhile, the crack on Wall Rose marked the commencement of destruction and looming demise of the city. The Beast Titan with hairy ape-like features will appear. He will be gigantic, making the Colossal Titan from the first season seem so much less terrifying. Despite his appearance, the Beast Titan will be known for his intelligence and knowledge on leadership. He will be able to call on other Titans to begin their attack.
