'Attack on Titan' season 2 release date rumors: Possible launch set Q2 2016

"Attack on Titan" (Shingeki no Kyojin) fans have been waiting for too long since the first season of the anime series ended in 2014, and it seems that the show would not be back anytime soon.

The popular series' production previously hit a wall when it was delayed twice, following issues in the lack of story arc. "Attack on Titan" is known to keep true to its manga counterpart, and the manga should be four story arcs ahead. Since it only has two arcs, there were speculations that the series will veer away from its manga and have its own all-original plot. The show's executives later on decided that it will indeed be faithful to the original manga and fans just have to wait a little longer.

Fast forward to today, latest reports claim that production is indeed in progress. Viewers can expect the series to debut sometime around the second half of this year, with latest spoilers pointing to an unfortunate death. Furthermore, Latin Times notes that the Reiss family have similar capabilities like the Titans, and they can turn into a Titan like Eren. Season 2 will also lead the characters to  "uncover a conspiracy that connects the government to the origins of the titans themselves. Also certain characters may not be who you think they are and they'll be more interesting takeaways about the titans."

On other news, Isayama joined other Japanese manga artists in support of the  Kumamoto earthquake victims. Japan was recently devastated by a terrible earthquake that claimed 48 lives, with over 1,200 injured and at least 10,000 houses ruined according to the Japan Meteorological Agency (JMA) via Japan Today. Isayama posted his creations on his blog where he drew some of his well-known creations like Armin, Eren and Mikasa. There were also illustrations of Kumamoto Prefecture's mascot character Kumamon along with Oita's Mejiron.
