The sophomore season of "Criminal Minds: Beyond Borders" is gradually taking shape, and a female actress has recently been tapped to guest star in the hit CBS procedural drama.

In an Instagram post, "Buffy The Vampire Slayer" alumna Charisma Carpenter shared a photo of her script for a "Criminal Minds: Beyond Borders" episode along with the announcement of her casting. "Excited to announce I will be guest starring on Criminal Minds Beyond Borders! Air date forth coming," the caption reads. Unfortunately, Carpenter did not mention anything about her role or what the episode is about.

Carpenter, who is also known for her role in Freeform's "The Lying Game," joins the long list of talented guest stars joining the CBS spinoff's second season slated to air next year. The stellar lineup of the drama's burgeoning cast include Jim Beaver, Kim Rhodes, Matt Cohen, Osric Chau, Rob Benedict and Richard Speight Jr.

Additionally, a character from "Criminal Minds" will be crossing over to the spinoff to guest star. Actress Paget Brewster, who portrays Behavioral Analysis Unit (BAU) Chief Emily Prentiss in the original series, has been confirmed to appear in one episode. Reports say that she will ask help from the International Response Team (IRT) from FBI in an effort to solve a number of murder cases that occurred in Taiwan.

Season 1 wrapped up with an intense two-hour special finale centered on the case of a missing toddler named Abby Wagner during a family vacation in Haiti. While racing the clock, the team stopped at nothing to find clues on the child's abductor. Thanks to Jack Garrett's (Gary Sinise) mind tricks on Abby's distressed dad, he found out that a nanny named Sara had an unusual closeness with Abby.

It was revealed later on that Sara's real name is Seraphina and she lost her daughter because of a natural calamity. She wanted to use Abby in a ritual to bring her daughter back, but the team successfully managed to rescue toddler just in time.

"Criminal Minds: Beyond Borders" season 2 will premiere in midseason 2017 on CBS.
