The sixth season of "Dance Moms" is far from over but fans are already getting anxious about whether or not the popular Lifetime reality series will return for a seventh season in 2017.

Could "Dance Moms" continue after star dancer Maddie Ziegler, her mom Melissa Gisoni, and her younger sister Mackenzie exit the series?

While it is true that Abby Lee Dance Company (ALDC) still has its share of young talents and there is certainly enough drama between ALDC owner Abby Lee Miller and the "dance moms" for more seasons to come, fans have been speculating that Ziegler's departure could spell the end of the show.

This rumor was fueled by the fact that the reality series' ratings went through a significant drop during its last two episodes, with several outlets predicting that ratings will only continue to slide in the back half of season 6.

While "Dance Moms" has grown a significant fan base since it premiered six years ago, Ziegler, who gained widespread fame after appearing in a series of Sia music videos, has a stronger following than most of her co-stars. Her departure could then mean that a large portion of "Dance Moms" regular viewers will stop tuning in to the reality show.

It appears, however, that fans haven't seen the last of Ziegler in "Dance Moms." In a recent live YouTube broadcast, Miller hinted at a future collaboration with her former star pupil. The ALDC head choreographer's statement came in the midst of rumors that Ziegler will be leaving ALDC and moving to a rival dance studio. During the broadcast, Miller explained that while Ziegler has left "Dance Moms," she will always be with ALDC.

"Hopefully, wink wink, Maddie and I will work together again," Miller said. "She's still at my studio. That's never going to change. But hopefully we're going to be working on another project that you might just see on your television screen [or] even your computer screen in the future. Keep your fingers crossed."

"Dance Moms" season 6 is expected to conclude sometime in August. There has been no official word on whether the reality series is being cancelled or renewed, but should "Dance Moms" get the green light for season 7, it will likely begin airing in January.
