After almost a year of waiting, Syfy's popular series "Dark Matter" will return to the small screen for its sophomore run next month. With the premiere date just around the corner,

Season 1 left off with an unexpected betrayal which steered Dark Matter towards an entirely new path. According to Syfy's Program Strategy Senior Vice President Chris Regina, fans can expect more interesting episodes as the story continues to unfold. "With its mysterious premise and fascinating characters, Dark Matter has built an incredibly loyal, passionate and engaged fan base," Regina said (via Den of Geek). "We look forward to another out-of-the-world season from this talented creative team."

As for what's in store when season 2 rolls out, viewers can expect to see the crew's fate following the shocking events of the season 1 finale. The series might finally answer some unresolved questions including Five's reason for damaging the mind wipe, Six's involvement with the Galactic Authority and The Android's odd behavior. Hopefully, these loose ends in the plot will be tied next season as the show moves forward to a more complicated chapter. Now that all the crew members are in prison, it remains to be seen how their group dynamic will change.

Two (Melissa O' Nel) had a good look on who betrayed the group before being unconcious, and O' Neil hints that viewers might also know who the traitor is next season. "There's a lot of satisfaction in the second season with regards to the unanswered themes in season 1," Melissa O'Neil teased during a Q & A at the Toronto Comic-Con. "Two is the only person who wakes up knowing who betrayed us because she has that moment where she saw [Six] before he zaps her out. [It's] seeing how that relationship kind of figures itself out and what we do when we're in prison."
