"Destiny 2" is being "rebooted," according to a report by Kotaku. The site claims that due to some shake-up behind the scenes, the highly-anticipated sequel is getting a major makeover.

Luke Smith, the director of "The Taken King" downloadable content (DLC) for "Destiny," has been tapped to spearhead the development of the upcoming title, thanks to some staff reshuffle down at developer Bungie.

After Bungie President Harold Ryan stepped down, the company ultimately decided to delay "Destiny 2" and fill in its fall slate with a brand new expansion pack instead.

It is unclear what this means for the official launch of "Destiny 2," but it has been stated earlier this year that the title will not be released this year as originally planned.

"We no longer expect a full game Destiny release during the year. We do however expect a full game Destiny sequel to now come in 2017," Activision CFO Dennis Durkin said via MCV UK.

This ties in with previous reports that indicated that Bungie will produce one more DLC for "Destiny" before focusing on the launch of "Destiny 2." Today, this said DLC was leaked on Reddit.

The leak revealed that the upcoming expansion pack is called "Rise of Iron." An artwork for the DLC shows Lord Saladin, the boss from the Iron Banner, taking the spotlight.

The name of the "Destiny" DLC suggests that more about the Lords of Iron will be unravelled there. Expectations are high that "Rise of Iron" will be as large as "The Taken King" in terms of map scale.

Fans expect new characters, a new raid and a new set of weapons or levels to go with this DLC. Bungie is yet to make it official, but an announcement during the Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3) is expected to take place.

As far as content goes, the "Rise of Iron" DLC for "Destiny" is said to resemble a raid that was originally created for but cut from the "House of Wolves" DLC.
