"Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2" will be released on PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC in North America and in Europe, but this won't be the case in Japan.

The game, which was recently announced by Bandai Namco Entertainment after a lot of rumors about it, will be a PS4 exclusive in the country.

It remains a mystery why the game won't be available on other platforms, but it appears that Bandai Namco has no plans to release Xbox One and PC versions of "Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2" in Japan.

Some fans would like to think that the game publisher ditching Xbox One and PC versions of the "Dragon Ball Xenoverse" sequel will help them polish the PS4 version. Other than that, it is unknown why the game publisher opted against a release outside of the Sony console.

"Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2" gives fans only one mission and that is to "protect the history of Dragon Ball." The announcement trailer teases that the past and the future that players will deal with are "outcomes you wished were different."

Like the first "Dragon Ball Xenoverse" installment, the upcoming game presents players a way to change the events in the "Dragon Ball" timeline.

It is expected that similar to the original, "Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2" will see gamers play the role of Future Warriors, members of the Time Patrol who have the power and the means to alter the history and the future.

In the first installment, players were given the choice to be Saiyans, Majins, Namekians or Earthlings. It remains to be seen if the upcoming title will do the same.

Bandai Namco is expected to share more details about "Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2" in the upcoming Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3) 2016 at the Los Angeles Convention Center on June 14 to 16.

"Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2" is said to be out in Japan around December. Specific information about its launch in other regions should be revealed at E3.
