'Empire' season 3 spoilers: Freda Gatz to return; Anika or Rhonda dies

American musical drama television series "Empire" closed its second season a few weeks ago and as it has always been, it left fans with a major cliffhanger. The next season is still far from today but luckily, there are some spoilers and predictions that have surfaced ahead of the "Empire" season 3 premiere.

According to a report by Melty, fans of the series can expect to see rapper Bre-Z again as she will be returning to season 3 to reprise her role as Freda Gatz. The character's storyline started out great beginning with her friendship with Jamal (Jussie Smollett). And fans have followed her climb up the ladder from the bottom to reach the top of fame. All of that kept viewers watching out more of her until she got locked up in jail for shooting her friend in the chest.

Freda is now locked up in jail but it doesn't mean that everything is all done for her. TVLine detailed that Showrunner Ilene Chaiken confirmed Freda's return as there is still more to her story that must be told. Jamal, the person whom Freda accidentally shot, is also trying to help his friend despite the traumatizing event. Season 3 will cover a lot of Jamal's journey to recovery as well as his secret relationship with D-Major.

Moreover, one character will not make it back to the third installment. As fans have watched in the finale episode, Rhonda (Kaitlin Doubleday) and Anika (Grace Gealey) had a brawl at the top of a New York skyscraper. It ended with a fall out but it's not known yet who it was or if it was the two of them.

On the other hand, in an interview of Fox LA with Variety's Elizabeth Wagmeister, she predicted that one of the Lyon ladies will not survive. Fans will also find out who it will be during the first episode of the next season.

"Empire" season 3 will premiere sometime this fall.
