Signing the petition for the renewal of "Finding Carter" is still ongoing but fans might have to prepare for a rather bleak conclusion of their campaign. The show might never get the chance to settle its uncertain season 2 ending.

As of this writing, the petition has 13,224 signatures which is quite a number but they are only gradually increasing. It is notable how it took almost a month to gather an additional thousand signatures.

The petition was launched to bring to the attention of the cancelled show's home network MTV their sentiments about the non-renewal of "Finding Carter," accompanied with their wish that the executives somehow reverse their decision and again pick up the show for another season. The petition is also addressed to other network executives who might be interested in the continuation of the series via their respective companies.

Given the gradual addition of new petitioners and the fact that not one network executive has expressed the willingness to pick up the teen-oriented drama show, the attempt stands futile.

There was not a clear conclusion to the storyline of "Finding Carter." The lack of closure at the end of its second and last season was a cliffhanger which will likely never be resolved.

There was plenty that occurred in the two-hour season 2 ender of "Finding Carter" that it was too much to digest. Carter Wilson's (Kathryn Prescott) chaotic relationship with Jared (Jackson Rathbone) finally came to an end. It was a shock for fans when it was revealed that it was Max Wagner (Alex Saxon) who was guilty of Jared's murder while Carter was dwelling in regret and anxiety feeling responsible for his untimely death. Ben Wallace (Ben Winchell) was facing the likelihood of being brought back into the foster care system toward which he still held resentment. Taylor Wilson (Anna Jacoby-Heron) seemed in denial of the events that she was fervent about not letting Max turn himself in.

With all the tension, lying and hiding, crime and personal conflicts of the characters within themselves, there is certainly so much that needs resolve. This resolve, however, might never come about.

"Finding Carter" had a two-season run from July 2014 to December 2015.
