Famed evangelist Franklin Graham rebuked Time Magazine for describing Hillary Clinton as the "American Moses" and suggested that its staff should "check their Bible."

"Today TIME magazine named Donald J. Trump as their person of the year. And, oddly enough, they also called Hillary Clinton an 'American Moses.' Maybe TIME should check their Bible," he wrote on Facebook on Wednesday.

"I find that a very interesting parallel. Moses led the children of Israel to wander around in the wilderness for 40 years. I wonder if TIME was saying that if Hillary Clinton were elected, she would have led us into the wilderness?" he continued.

His remarks came after the magazine published an article on Clinton who lost the electoral college but won the popular vote. The former first lady was named as a runner-up for the magazine's 2016 Person of the Year.

The article pointed out that Clinton almost became the first female president of the U.S., but she lost in the end. It further noted that she was one of the most admired women in the country but also among the most reviled.

"Like an American Moses, she was an imperfect prophet, leading women to the edge of the Promised Land. Now it's up to another woman to enter it." the article stated.

An anti-Trump Republican voter named Ruth Malhotra explained that she would like to see a woman become president someday but she said that it would have to be someone who shared her values.

Meanwhile, President-elect Donald Trump said that he considered it an honor to be named as the magazine's Person of the Year. Other people who were on the shortlist include Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, pop singer Beyonce, The CRISPR pioneers, and "The hackers."

Trump was on the shortlist for the 2015 award, but the magazine ultimately chose German Chancellor Angela Merkel.

Graham's Facebook post linked to an article on Fox News which pointed out that the magazine used the most "glowing praise" for Clinton while describing the president-elect as a "huckster" and "demagogue."
