In his column for The Christian Post, he noted the frustrations and fears of the people as they anticipate who will win on Nov. 8. He assured his readers that God will still be the sovereign ruler whatever the outcome of the election.

"I have a prediction. I know exactly what Nov. 9 will bring. Another day of God's perfect sovereignty. He will still be in charge. His throne will still be occupied. He will still manage the affairs of the world. Never before has His providence depended on a king, president, or ruler. And it won't on Nov. 9, 2016," Lucado wrote.

The author quoted Proverbs 21:1 to clarify that God can handle whoever is elected President. The verse stated, "The Lord can control a king's mind as he controls a river; he can direct it as he pleases."

Lucado recalled how God used the King of Assyria to aid in the construction of the Temple. He also mentioned that on another occasion, God made Cyrus decide to let the Jews go back to Jerusalem.

Another example that Lucado cited was Nebuchadnezzar, one of the strongest rulers then. He pointed out how God humbled the king and put him in "detention" for seven years.

The author urged his readers to imitate Jeremiah, the prophet in Israel during the rebellion. He noted how the prophet lamented the condition of the people yet he remained hopeful when he realized that God is sovereign.

In an interview with NPR, Lucado clarified that people still have personal responsibility even when they trust in God's sovereignty. He urged people to examine the platform of both parties and to pray to God to help them make a decision on Nov. 8.

"Here's the big deal - no matter who wins, God is still sovereign regardless if my preferred candidate wins or not. And by the way, I've never disclosed for whom I'm voting," he added.
