'Grand Theft Auto 6' release date news: Bigger map for 'GTA6' to include popular maps from previous installments, causing delay

It has been rumored the Rockstar Games is currently cooking up the latest addition to the highly popular "Grand Theft Auto" video game franchise. If the rumors were true, the game developer company is gearing up for "Grand Theft Auto 6" which is expected to arrive two or three years for now, although the long wait of the fans will also be the time for them to expand the series' universe and include new exciting gameplay features that long-time "GTA" players have never experienced before.

As of the meantime, "Grand Theft Auto V" is the latest "GTA" game in the circulation and it also features the largest computer space requirement which other famous "GTA" games like "Grand Theft Auto: San Andres" are relatively smaller in comparison. The reason is that the map of "Grand Theft Auto V" is huge that it takes up much space on the hard drive. However, the larger the map is, the more excitement it offers for the players hungry for more action-packed sequences and missions.

While the "Grand Theft Auto V" map is large, it is rumored that the forthcoming "Grand Theft Auto 6" will be even larger. In fact, a Reddit user recently spilled some details regarding the enormous map of the game. The user shared a sample map that he claimed to be from the currently being developed video game. As reported in the Yibada website, the Reddit user's post reveals that the maps from the previous "Grand Theft Auto" installments. Some portions of the huge map may seem familiar to the long-time players as the maps from "Grand Theft Auto III" up to "Grand Theft Auto V" will be included in the new game.

While the players may get very excited about the larger map for "Grand Theft Auto 6," it may not be that great of a news as it could also be the reason why Rockstar could not speed things up for an earlier release date of the game. According to Game N Guide, the big map is the main reason why "GTA 6" will not make an appearance this year or even next year as a larger map means more time and effort to develop its features.

Former Rockstar North president Leslie Benzies had first spilled the idea of having old maps from the previous "GTA" video games to be featured in a future installment.

"Of course at some point we would like to have one big world containing all our cities and let the player fly between them and revisit their favorite areas, and in that context reimagining Vice City would be very interesting," Benzies said during an interview with the Digital Trends.
