'Grey's Anatomy' season 13 release date, spoilers news: There's trouble brewing for Riggs

Meredith (Ellen Pompeo) won't catch a break with sisterhood issues in "Grey's Anatomy" season 13 following her falling out with her sister Amelia (Caterina Scorsone) regarding her marriage with Owen (Kevin McKidd). The new season of the hit TV series is scheduled for a fall 2016 premiere.

She is about to face a bigger problem with her other sister Maggie (Kelly McCreary) and it's all thanks to her sudden hookup with Riggs (Martin Henderson), who turns out Maggie is crazy about.

Maggie isn't happy that Riggs and Meredith are sleeping together and this will show in "Grey's Anatomy" season 13. However, things are about to get more complicated.

Meredith and Riggs are under the impression they hate each other so much that this hookup won't go beyond. But it appears that this might not be the case in "Grey's Anatomy" season 13.

Henderson believes that the two recognizing their experiences on heartbreak will be a good place to start for his character and Meredith to start a real relationship.

"I think that's always really powerful between a couple," Henderson told TV Line. He added that this "may be fertile ground for them to actually have a relationship with some meaning."

The actor also believes that Meredith could use some respite, which Nathan will most certainly be able to help her with in "Grey's Anatomy" season 13.

"Nathan is irreverent and kind of calls Meredith on her s—, and that might be really good for her because he doesn't take [things] all that seriously. It might be nice for her to have the opportunity to actually lighten up a bit around some stuff," Henderson said.

However, Pompeo has said last month to TV Line that it is still unclear is the sexual relationship will continue in "Grey's Anatomy" season 13 or beyond.

"I think maybe they want to give the fans a little taste and see how they react first, and then they will decide what to do," the actress said.

So far, it looks like fans are loving what the show is doing with Riggs and Meredith. However, the latter would not want to hurt Maggie so that will certainly affect how the relationship goes.

"Grey's Anatomy" season 13 premieres this Fall.
