"Grand Theft Auto" fanatics are definitely excited for the release of the next installment of the series. It has been several years already since "Grand Theft Auto 5" was rolled out and game followers are expecting the company to develop another part of the series to feed their hunger for the game. According to reports, the delay of the next installment could be because of the success the company has with "Grand Theft Auto Online."

Rumor has it that game developer, Rockstar Games is currently focusing on releasing updates to improve the gameplay of "GTA Online." It appears that although the online version of the game is free, the company is able to find many ways to make it even more profitable. The game currently has micro-transactions to allow players improve their gaming experience online.

GameSpot reported that the "GTA Online" has garnered more than $500 million from micro-transactions alone. The revelation has been a subject of a lawsuit between Leslie Benzie, ex-Rockstar North president, and Rockstar Games' mother company Take-Two Interactive. Although the earnings may come as a surprise to many people, Rockstar Games and Take-Two Interactive have already expected this considering that numerous reports suggested more than 8 million gamers play the game every week.

Meanwhile, a report from Forbes supports the idea that the success of the current "GTA Online" will greatly influence the arrival of the new installment. It is reported that Rockstar Games may include popular features and aspects of the online game to "GTA 6" to ensure its success when it hits the shelves soon.

As of the moment, it seems like the company still has not decided when to release the next installment of the series. There are reports suggesting that if Rockstar Games decides to finally release it, the earliest arrival date would be in 2018.

For now, fans can still enjoy "GTA Online," which is currently available on for PS4, PS3, Xbox One, Xbox 360, and PC platforms.
