'Half-Life 3' release date news 2016: Valve to release sequel in 2018 with VR features?

Valve has remained very quiet amid the speculations that the company is planning to make another sequel for their highly popular video game in the 90s, the "Half-Life." Many fans expected that Valve would be making a surprise presentation at last month's Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3) 2016 to finally unveil "Half-Life 3."

Unfortunately for the fans, the game developer company made no mention of the rumored game sequel, although not all hope is lost for the rumors are still rife that Valve will be releasing "Half-Life 3" in two years.

As reported by the News Independent, Valve may have already been working on the next "Half-Life" game title, although the company is trying to keep everything as a secret for now.

Moreover, the highly anticipated game sequel is also rumored to sport virtual reality (VR) functionalities. Incorporating virtual reality experience in the new "Half-Life" video game could be an effective way to make the franchise much more thrilling, especially in the new age of electronic gaming.

The virtual reality format in "Half-Life 3" is possible as Valve's resident hardware engineer Alan Yates mentioned that the company is now creating an AR/VR research team, although the team is smaller compared to before. If the team pushes through with creating a VR "Half-Life" game, the project could take many months before getting finished.

Valve released the second "Half-Life" video game almost 12 years ago, and the fans of the highly successful shooter video game have remained hopeful that the game studio will make a follow-up game in the near future.

In spite of the absence of a new game in the franchise, "Half-Life" remains an exciting treat for the gamers with "Half-Life 2" still being played by many people all over the world until now. It is probably high time for Valve to start making "Half-Life 3." If ever the new sequel does arrive in 2018, it will coincide with the 20th anniversary of the first "Half-Life" game release in 1998, Neurogadget reported.
