Huawei Mate 9 new leaks claim modified dual-camera module, Android N, 5.9-inch display

Huawei is climbing to the top of the game with their impressive smartphone lineup, and it seems like they are never going to stop. Reports say that they are adding another model to their Mate series, and it's dubbed as the Mate 9.

According to reports, new leaked renders of the Huawei Mate 9 have surfaced online. It doesn't show much, but it does suggest that the company's upcoming phablet-smartphone will look similar to its predecessor Mate 8 and will be coming with a modified dual-camera module that has a different orientation from the Huawei P9.

Aside from the camera, the renders also teased a metal build and a fingerprint scanner at the rear. There is no information yet on whether the camera of the device will be incorporated with Leica branding just like the P9, but fans are hoping that it would be included.

Details about the camera resolution are still unreleased. Rumors say that the device will be getting a 12-megapixel rear camera, but others claim that it's going to be 20 megapixels. Word also have it that the device will have LED flash and laser autofocus. Rumors also say that it will have an 8-megapixel front camera.

Details about the device's specifications are yet to be released, but earlier leaks claim that the device will be sporting a 5.9-inch 1080p touchscreen. Under the hood will be a HiSilicon Kirin 960 chipset paired with 4 GB of RAM and a native storage of 64 GB. A 6 GB RAM variant is also predicted to surface.

It's also said to initially run with Android 6.0 Marshmallow. It will eventually get an Android 7.0 Nougat operating system update once it is released. With regards to the release date, there are several speculations.

Some reports say that it will be launched sometime in November or December of this year, similar to the Huawei Mate 8 which came out late last year. The developer of this device is also attending IFA 2016, but it's less likely that the Mate 9 will be the device that Huawei will highlight.

Huawei fans have to wait for the official announcement of when the Mate 9 may possibly come out.
