"Kingdom Hearts 3" has been one of the most anticipated video game for the last few years. Ever since the release of the current game more than a decade ago, many fans have been waiting for Square Enix to develop the third installment. Unfortunately, the company has continued to stay mum about its development and release date. However, new reports suggest that the second sequel of the franchise could already be under development. Rumor has it that Square is preparing to launch a new trailer of the action role-playing game.

According to a report from NeuroGadget, the company is said to release the trailer at the upcoming title at the Electronic Entertainment Expo or E3 next month in Los Angeles. The publication added that the footage will introduce gameplay highlights and new characters.

In a report by Christian Times, the trailer footage to be shown at the E3 event does not necessarily mean that the company is releasing the game this year. There are speculations suggesting that the upcoming title may not be released until April 2017.

Yibada reported that Square Enix has already announced a list of games to be released in the coming fiscal year. "Kingdom Hearts 3" is not on the list according to the report.

According to Yibada, the title for "Kingdom Hearts 3" is still not final. The anticipated game was titled "Kingdom Hearts 2.8" on Square Enix 2017 fiscal year report. The list includes "World of Final Fantasy," "Rise of the Tomb Raider," "Deus Ex: Mankind Divided," "Dragon Quest Heroes II," "SaGa Scarlet Grace" and "Final Fantasy 15."

Despite the contradicting reports from various tech online publications, many fans have reasons to believe that the company will release "Kingdom Hearts 3" next year.

As of the moment, fans will have to wait for the E3 event to see if Square Enix will indeed release footage of the upcoming title.
