Meizu Pro 7 news, release date and rumored specs: New entry to come before 2017; may feature Kirin 960, ultrasound fingerprint sensor

Nowadays, the true competition in the smartphone industry lies not as to which company has served it best in terms of its curved-display offerings but rather as to which firm has the most bezel-less design. This is increasingly true as Xiaomi has recently released the game-changing personification of what the arena might very well be in the future with its Xiaomi Mi Mix. Along with tech giants like Apple Inc. and Samsung Electronics, which have reportedly joined the bandwagon, other ranks will certainly follow suit.

The latest entry that the world of internet is abuzz with is Meizu Pro 7. Notably, a series of leaks have surfaced giving us a glimpse of what the device might look and will ultimately sport once it gets launched.

Digital Trends has shared that Meizu Pro 7 may have a borderless, edge-to-edge design, akin to its compatriot's Mi Mix. Weibo's leaks have revealed that the upcoming iteration will boast a massive 5.62-inch super active-matrix organic light-emitting diode (AMOLED) display along with a resolution of 2,160 x 1,080 while its ratio is weirdly clocked at 2:1.

In addition, the Meizu Pro 7 will be decidedly thin at only 6.55mm. A leaked set of slides has also shown that the device will be toting the Kirin 960 chipset with the new Cortex-A73 central processing unit (CPU) cores along with the Mali G-71 Vulkan-enabled graphics processing unit (GPU). It will be supported by 6G of random-access memory (RAM) and 64GB or 128GB or native storage.

Furthermore, Meizu Pro 7 will be sporting a 12-megapixel (MP) rear camera and a 5MP front-facing snapper. Interestingly, the leaks have indicated another front camera has been spotted and is going to be equipped with 8MP and is located at the top of the phone. Moreover, a slide has pegged the device to be coming with an ultrasound fingerprint sensor, which is set to be embedded under its glass.

Meizu Pro 7 is tipped to be launched on Dec. 24, 2016.
