Already going through a lot of changes this summer, the Miami Heat is also dealing with injuries as its players compete in the coming NBA season.

They are now without much of the core team that won them two NBA championships in recent years, with Dwyane Wade moving to the Chicago Bulls and the Heat effectively ending their relationship with Chris Bosh.

Now it seems they are looking at their younger players to help them move forward but they still have to wait for Josh Richardson to make a full recovery from his knee injury.

Entering his second year in the league, much is expected from Richardson, who picked up his knock during practice with the team and partially tore his medial collateral ligament (MCL).

He wore a knee brace and was expected to miss out on six to eight weeks of practice to complete his rehabilitation.

Now, Richardson is hoping that he can work things out and reach the season opener on Oct. 26 when they face the Orlando Magic.

When asked if he will be ready by that time, Richardson told reporters: "I don't know. Maybe. It's a possibility."

Unfortunately, his current status is not too positive as he is still not sprinting or cutting. He is only going through light training on the court.

At 23 years old, Richardson made a decent contribution in his first year in the league, averaging 6.6 points and 2.1 rebounds per game in 52 regular season appearances for the Heat.

He shot an impressive 45 percent from the field and 46 percent from beyond the three-point line.

Richardson was picked in the second round, 40th overall by the Heat in the 2015 draft and is signed with the team until the 2017-18 season.

The Miami Heat is definitely hoping he can return to help the team.
