It has been a long-standing rumor that the Surface Phone will be released by Microsoft Corporation in the coming months. There have been bold predictions that the Redmond-based tech giant will be surprising the public with the arrival of its newest smartphone line this 2016. However, there are no confirmed reports yet that the Surface Phone will exist this year. Perhaps the tech enthusiasts may need to wait until next year for the developments.

Microsoft has been reported busy working on their hybrid laptop and tablet devices, namely the Surface Pro and Surface Book line. While the electronics giant was also seen working on their smartphone models, especially their current mobile phone flagship, the Lumia series, it has been rumored that Microsoft will also be adopting the features of their successful Surface line to a smartphone device. Thus, the concept of the Surface Phone was born.

As reported by The Bitbag, Microsoft is expected to unveil the Surface Phone in three variants. These variants will cater the needs of those who would like to see the classic Microsoft features, the businessmen and those who would like to spend a good amount of money for a satisfying technology. The rumors are rife that the Surface Phone will be powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 821 Quad core processor. It will be accompanied by an improved RAM of up to 8-gigabyte and 512GB worth of internal memory. Its battery performance is also expected to be enhanced.

The high-end Surface Phone variant is rumored to get a 12-megapixel high-resolution camera with Carl Zeiss lens. In general, all Surface Phone variants will be boasting the so-called "Continuum" app. Microsoft has already been pitching this new mobile phone feature, which is poised to be the company's next "killer app" that will go with the new Windows 10 mobile phone OS. This will allow the user to connect his or her smartphone to a monitor, keyboard, or other personal computer parts and use the phone like a real PC.

Unfortunately, Microsoft has already hinted that the Surface Phone will not be launched until next year. Simply, the tech giant is not yet ready to focus on the smartphone area as they are still updating the Surface Pro and Surface Book.
