The Microsoft Surface Pro 5 is slated for a March 2017 release date following the news that the Redmond-based tech company is organizing the Creators Update in March. While the company is being awaited to confirm the speculations, the long-standing rumors of Pro 5 continue to persist.

The Creators Update is especially held to announce details of Window 10, but enthusiasts believe that the event will also debut the anticipated Pro 5 since there is news that the hybrid device will be the first one to have the Windows 10 Redmond update. The company, however, has yet to confirm the rumors.

It is believed that the Microsoft Surface Pro 5 will have significant upgrades from the current model, which is being sold for a discounted price at the moment. This strengthened the release date rumors of the Pro 5 even further as it is usual for a company to offer its current models for a lower price prior to the release of its new ones.

As of now, the Surface Pro 5 is expected to come out in three variants. The first one is the base model with Core m processor while the mid-range option has the Core i5 processor. The premium model is equipped with Intel quad-core Core i7.

Similar to the Pro 4, the imminent two-in-one laptop may sport a 12.3-inch display, coupled with 4K resolution feature. There are leaked images that hint at the Microsoft Surface Pro 5's Surface Pen, which will also have its own debut.

A patent has been shared through various tech websites, indicating that Microsoft has filed a patent for the new pen. The rumored Surface Pen has its own port for charging, which is directly installed in a compatible device. This means the Surface Pen may only function on Pro 5 or for later models of Microsoft gadgets.

Other speculations include LTE connection, fingerprint scanner and USB-C 3.1 Thunderbolt, among others.
