Fans and consumers are in eager anticipation of the Microsoft Surface Pro 5 especially after it was reported that the hybrid gadget could compete with Apple's iPad Pro. However, until now, Microsoft hasn't given an exact release date for the gadget.

A Windows 10 Devices event is being cooked up for October, and some are surmising that the Surface Pro 5 will be released by then. The International Business Times reports that Microsoft is planning to boost the device with a few amazing features that include a 4K display and new Intel chipset.

Apparently, the new iteration will also feature an upgraded Windows 10 OS and Kaby Lake processors, which is why it will be a tad more expensive than the Surface Pro 4. However, the amped up processors are expected to improve the battery life of the Microsoft Surface Pro 5.

The Kaby Lake processors are touted to have a 14-nm manufacturing process that will give the Surface Pro 5 an enhanced cooling technology and 40 percent improved performance. However, the use of the Kaby Lake processors is expected to go hand-in-hand with the Windows Redstone 2 update, which is expected to be ready by spring of 2017.

With that said, fans and consumers should wait until March 2017 for the possible release of the Microsoft Surface Pro 5 with the Kaby Lake processors and Windows Redstone 2 update.

Mobile & Apps reports that Windows is planning to match up the latest iteration with Apple's MacBook Pro 2016 while other reports say it can compete with the iPad Pro.

The Microsoft Surface Pro 5 is said to boast of the PixelSense display panel and be offered in 21-, 24- and 27-inch screen options. As for the memory, rumors suggest it will have a 16 GB RAM with Surface AIO graphics unit, as well as a 16 MP rear and 8 MP front camera.

Still, unless the official confirmation as to specs, price ranges, and release date of the Microsoft Surface Pro 5 comes from Microsoft itself, every report about the device should be taken with a grain of salt.

In the meantime, keep coming back for more updates and details about the Microsoft Surface Pro 5.
