Microsoft's Surface Pro 4 has been around for quite some time now, and for many tech enthusiasts, it is probably high time for the Redmond-based tech giant to release the next iteration of its highly popular hybrid device. Earlier rumors suggested that the Surface Pro 5 will be released before the end of 2016, and with only less than three months remaining this year, people believe that the much-awaited unveiling of the hybrid laptop will happen later this October. Unfortunately, the public may have to wait a little longer, at least until the early months of 2017.

It was first rumored that the arrival of the Surface Pro 5 will happen later this year. Specifically, it was said that Microsoft will be having a press event to showcase all of the company's latest Surface devices and gadgets for 2016, and that include the Surface Pro 4's successor. After weeks of speculations, Microsoft already announced that they will be holding a huge hardware event on Oct. 26, The Verge reported. The products to be featured by the company during the said event is still unknown, but this led people to think that the Surface Pro 5 is within reach.

Unfortunately for the Surface Pro fans, the online publication also noted that the Surface Pro 5 may not be among the products to be presented by Microsoft on October 26. If anything, the public can expect more about the new contents for the Windows 10, as well as the latest Xbox features. As for the new Surface devices, Microsoft may announce another rumored Surface product, which is an all-in-one desktop computer.

Further supporting the claim that the Surface Pro 5 will be a no-show at the Microsoft event this year is the late arrival of the Intel Kaby Lake processor, which is already reported to power up the upcoming Surface device. The Surface Pro 5 using the next generation of Intel chipset may be a good thing as it is expected to be more powerful and efficient than the current Skylake processor, but the public needs to be patient enough to wait for its arrival sometime next year. According to HNGN, the Kaby Lake processor will be shipped in Spring 2017, thus Microsoft cannot proceed with the development of Surface Pro 5 until then.

Other features of the Surface Pro 5 include the Windows 10 Redstone 2 OS update, a new magnetic Surface pen, and a display screen fully supporting 4K resolution, Neurogadget reported.
