"Mr. Robot" season 2 premieres exactly a week from today, and the critically-acclaimed USA series will look into the aftermath of last season's massive hack that brought E Corp down.

Following the collapse of the world's economic system, viewers can expect an all-out war between the fsociety and the people behind the organization they victimized. With Elliot's hacker sister Darlene (Carly Chaikin) more driven after the major data breach and an FBI agent (Grace Gummer) keeping a close eye on him, the stakes become higher for Elliot and the rest of his notorious hacker group.

"Last season, they were really trying to work together to make this hack possible," Chaikin said to USA Today, pertaining to the dynamic between Elliot and Darlene. "This season, they're struggling being on two different pages in regards to how they feel about what just happened. But of course, they always stick together."

Instead of introducing a new conflict or antagonist in the story, series creator Sam Esmail says that the sophomore season will see the characters facing the consequences of the decisions they have made. "We're not rebooting or putting our characters on a new mission — we're continuing along the same arc," he explained.

Elliot's internal struggle will also be highlighted in the plot, as he continues to find balance between his personal issues and his life as a hacker. According to lead actor Rami Malek, his character is "just trying to keep himself from making any more mistakes and causing more collateral damage." Since he began receiving court-mandated therapy sessions to treat his mental illness, he must reel from the realization that Mr. Robot is just a figment of his imagination. The person whom he thought was the leader of fsociety is not real, but only a projection of his father who previously died due to leukemia.

Tune in to the season 2 premiere of "Mr. Robot" which is scheduled to air on July 13, Wednesday at 10 p.m. ET on USA.
