After being treated to episode 463, which was based on the canon, fans of the Japanese anime series "Naruto Shippuden" may be disappointed with the upcoming episode, which will be another filler.

Over the past month, "Naruto Shippuden" has taken a detour from its current storyline. In place of episodes based on the "Naruto" manga, filler episodes on the expanded backstory of Kaguya Otsutsuki have been aired.

According to Saiyan Island, the Kaguya history, which is not in the manga, began airing in May and is expected to continue — apart from a brief respite for episode 463 — until this week's episode.

Ecumenical News notes that the preview for episode 464, which is titled "NinshÅ«" or "Ninja Creed," shows the episode kicking off with Hagoromo emerging from Madara's body and talking about NinshÅ«. Fans have taken this to mean that the episode will be heavy on flashbacks and backstories, and will, once again, take a detour from the manga storyline.

Nonetheless, fans of the popular anime will be happy to learn that this may just be the final filler episode and that the series will soon continue the current storyline. With the filler episodes having already shown the history of Kaguya and her sons, as well as the origin of chakra and power, it is expected that the anime will get back to the fighting between Naruto, Sasuke, and Kaguya.

The next few episodes of "Naruto Shippuden" are expected to highlight Naruto and Sasuke's persistence in winning the fight. They could also underscore the stories of Indra and Ashura, and shed light on the judgment of the Sage of Six Paths over the clan battle between the Uchiha and Senju families.

In addition, fans are currently speculating that there are but a few episodes left before the anime closes the curtains on the current canon.

"Naruto Shippuden" episode 464 will air on Thursday, June 9.
