Nvidia reveals newest addition to its GTX series: The GTX Titan X

Expect Nvidia's GTX Titan X to be available for purchase in August | Nvidia

Nvidia has been riding high with praises of its GTX 1080, yet it has unveiled already its next monster GPU, and that is the GTX Titan X.

According to Ars Technica, the GTX Titan X is said to be an improved version of the 1080 by having Nvidia give it a Pascal-architecture makeover. The Titan X is powered with a brand new chip, the GP102, and it packs 3584 CUDA cores. The Titan X also boasts 11 teraflops of FP32 performance, which is 24 percent higher than the 8.9 teraflops that the 1080 has. The new GPU's 11 teraflops is also huge compared to the 6.6 teraflops that the original Titan X had.

There has been no word, however, on the different specs that the processor has like the amount of Streaming Multiprocessors (SMs), texture units, and the rest.

The Titan X is said to have a market value of over $1200, which is almost the price of two GTX 1080 processors. The U.K. price has not been announced, but people are guessing that it could be worth £1,100.

Nvidia is currently the developer of the GTX 1080, which boasts to be one of the most recommended graphics cards for those high-end gamers. Nvidia's competitor, AMD, has been left in the dust and is currently trying to play keep-up with its release of the RX 490. The announcement of the GTX Titan X could put Nvidia in a very good spot until the next big processor comes.

It's reported that the GTX Titan X will be available for purchase by Aug. 2 in the U.S. and Europe, but it can only be bought straight from the Nvidia website. With time, however, the GPU will percolate down to other retailers.

Nvidia has been releasing a bunch of new processors over the past months, which some consider weird as it has no competitors that are able to match its products. With the release of the GTX Titan X, gamers are hoping to finally get 60FPS 4K gaming.
