'Once Upon a Time' season 6 release date, spoilers news: Aladdin storyline revealed, Karen David on board as Princess Jasmine

The cast and crew of "Once Upon a Time" were present during the San Diego Comic-Con event held this week, and they dished some interesting details on the upcoming sixth season scheduled to air this Fall.

Executive producer Edward Kitsis shared during a Q & A that this season's theme will revolve around the idea of "looking at the darkness within us" and how to separate from it. Season 5 left off with the Evil Queen's return after being finally separated from Regina Miller through a potion previously used by Mr. Hyde and Dr. Jekyll to be free from each other.

In the same interview, Regina and the Evil Queen's portrayer Lana Parilla admits looking forward to how the separation will change both characters in some way. "I don't know what the Evil Queen is going to awaken inside of (Regina)," Parilla stated. "Right now, the Evil Queen doesn't have a conscience, she's almost a psychopath."

Meanwhile, Hook's portrayer Collin O' Donoghue hinted that his character and Emma will deal with their emotions as they work their relationship out. "It's going to be very complicated," he said, "but part of it too is that it's going to be fun because there's been enough messing around, we're a couple. That's what we are so they're gonna try to figure that out."

 Another treat for the fans is an Aladdin storyline which will be included in season 6. A special teaser was released during Comic-Con featuring Deniz Akdeniz ("Graceland") as Aladdin and Oded Fehr ("Covert Affairs") who will portray the evil Jafar. Though not included in the sneak peek trailer, Karen David ("Galavant") has been recently cast to play the role of Jasmine. Similar to Emma Swan, Aladdin is a savior but Jafar tells him in the clip that people like him never live happily ever after.

Other newcomers for this season include Giles Matthey ("24: Live Another Day") as Morpheus, Craig Horner ("Hindsight") as the Count of Monte Cristo. Jessy Schram returns as Cinderella/Ashley along with actor Raphael Sbarge as Dr. Archie Hopper.
