'Orange is the New Black' season 4 spoilers: Kate Mulgrew dishes on Red and Healey's relationship, Taylor Schilling hints Piper becoming a 'kingpin'

Popular Netflix series "Orange is the New Black" returns for its season 4 next month, and viewers will see more storyline twists involving the female inmates of Litchfield Penitentiary.

 In the previous season, Red (Kate Mulgrew) and Healy (Michael Harney) seemed to have something going on between them, but Red thinks that both of them are too old for any kind of romance. However, season 4 will further explore their budding relationship according to Mulgrew. "I have some interesting things with Michael Harney," the veteran actress told E! News during PaleyLive's event for the show. "I think that it is a deep friendship...it's an edgy kind of thing and for me to put too fine a point on it would be a mistake." Additionally, Harney also mentioned that the two characters will share some emotional scenes which fans should anticipate.

Meanwhile, lead actress Taylor Schilling who plays the role of Piper Chapman weighed in on her character's dynamic. She explained how Piper will be in the upcoming season and how viewers will see her in a much different light once the show returns. "She's becoming a little bit of a kingpin and has this swagger," Schilling hinted. "But the feeling I always have about Piper Chapman is that she tries on everything like a piece of clothing — she doesn't quite fit the jacket, but she tries it on. And I love that about her."

Gloria and Sophia also had their share of conflicts in season three which will eventually carry over to the next season. As fans can remember, Sophia's son Michael caused a conflict which led to her being attacked in prison and put in solitary confinement. This will continue to bother Gloria according to her portrayer Selenis Leyva. "You're going to see her struggling with the Sophia relationship still," Leyva told Entertainment Weekly. "She really does struggle with it, and I love that about Gloria, that she's taking responsibility for her actions, which I really admire about the character that they've written so brilliantly."

All the episodes of "Orange is the New Black" season 4 will be available for streaming this coming June 17 on Netflix.
