Perry Noble, former pastor of NewSpring Church in South Carolina, broke his silence about his family problems and drinking issues that eventually led to his firing from his own church.

The church announced in July that Noble had beed fired as a pastor for alcohol abuse and "unfortunate choices and decisions." In early September, Noble disclosed that he had just come out of a rehabilitation facility in Arizona and he planned to return to the ministry at some point.

In his Facebook post, the former pastor shared the mistakes he made that led to the loss of his job.

Noble confessed that he had isolated himself from the community and he had been hypocritical for preaching "you can't do life alone." He said that isolation led him to self-pity, self-doubt and self-hatred which made him turn to alcohol.

He revealed that he had faced challenges in his marriage but he chose to drink instead of ask for help.

"I was sick - deceived by sin, alcohol and myself. I justified this by saying I needed it to take the edge off, to help me relax, to help me deal with the pressure at home," he wrote. "Honestly, I knew the entire time I was using it as an excuse to zone out at home, thus causing me to neglect my role as a husband and a father," he continued.

Noble said that he and his wife Lucretia are still trying to make their marriage work and he urged other married couples not to give up fighting for theirs.

He admitted that he had neglected his family and his other relationships because he was preoccupied with gaining control of his life.

"I was 'successful' at work, I wasn't successful at home, so I chose to put more and more time into a place where I felt like I was in control rather than addressing the out of control area of my life," he explained.

The former pastor wrote that although he had been suffering, he chose to be silent and tried to cope with his problems by abusing alcohol.

He stressed that asking for help should not be viewed as a sign of weakness but as a sign of strength. He told his supporters not to make the same mistake he did.

Noble concluded his message by asking for the forgiveness of the members of NewSpring. He encouraged them to continue reaching out to people who are far from God.
