'Pokémon GO' cheats, tips: Eevee evolution guide 2016; which Eevee evolution is strongest; how to force evolve Eevee

Unlike any other Pokémon, the adorable Eevee has the special ability to evolve into three different higher-tier Pokemon.

While the rest of the more than 150 original Pokémon evolve into just one variant, Eevee randomly evolves into three different Pokémon: Jolteon (representing electricity), Flareon (representing fire), and Vaporeon (representing water).

Eevee evolutions

The electric Jolteon is considered the weakest of the three Eevee evolutions. According to reports, the only advantage to having a Jolteon is that it is strong against water-type Pokémon.

Flareon, the fire type Eevee evolution, has the slowest moveset out of the three Eevee varietals and is weak against water type Pokémon. Nonetheless, it has the highest base attack of the three Eevee evolutions.

Before the latest "Pokémon GO" update, Vaporeon was considered as one of the strongest Pokémon in the augmented reality mobile game. Vaporeon features the highest stamina among the three Eevee evolutions.

Evolving Eevee into Jolteon, Flareon, and Vaporeon

Shortly after "Pokémon GO" went live, players uncovered a trick that allowed them to control Eevee's evolution so that they can choose among the three resultant monsters.

The first step in the hack is catching an Eevee. Once a player has an Eevee and the necessary things needed for it to evolve, the Pokémon can be transformed into Jolteon, Flareon, or Vaporeon.

Interestingly, the Eevee evolution hack uncovered by players is based on the "Pokémon" anime.

In the anime, the Eevee brothers were named Sparky, Pyro, and Rainer.

To force Eevee to evolve into one specific evolution, one only has to rename Eevee into one of the brothers.

Those who want a Jolteon should rename their Eevee "Sparky" while those after a Flareon should type "Pyro." Those who want to get Vaporeon should type "Rainer."

After Eevee has been renamed and saved, players should then close the game all the way and restart it.

While the hack began as a rumor among players, Niantic recently confirmed this method during the San Diego Comic-Con last month.
