'Red Dead Redemption 2' release date rumors: Game expected at E3 2016

"Red Dead Redemption" | Red Dead Redemption

Open world, western action-adventure video game "Red Dead Redemption" was a hit when it was released by Rockstar Games back in 2010. But the biggest question that fans have right now is when a sequel will be hitting the store shelves. Unfortunately, the release date of the highly anticipated "Red Dead Redemption 2" still remains a question. There are several speculations though suggesting that the game's arrival is imminent.

According to Gamespot, Take-Two Interactive, Rockstar's parent company, recently confirmed that they are working on releasing new games soon. They publicized the information along with the company's latest earnings report wherein they mentioned that they are "hard at work on some exciting future projects that will be revealed soon." They did not mention any titles or if it's going to be sequels that will be coming but many are betting on "Red Dead Redemption 2" as well as "Grand Theft Auto 6."

IGN also reported that the game may make an appearance at the upcoming Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3), which will take place this coming June 14 to 16 at the Los Angeles Convention Center. There is no confirmation from Rockstar or Take-Two but sources cited that it was previously hinted by Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick that "Red Dead Redemption" can be a "permanent franchise." And since it was noted that the company will be present at E3, the possibility isn't too far.

On the other hand, other rumors claimed that the game will not be coming until 2017. Game Rant reported that it may even be subtitled with "Legends of the West" and if the map that previously leaked is to be followed, the game may end up more of a prequel rather than a sequel.

None is official as of now so fans who are looking forward to "Red Dead Redemption 2" will just have to watch out for more updates.
