A lot of fans rejoiced when Rockstar Games officially announced that a sequel to the hit cowboy shoot-em-up franchise "Red Dead Redemption" ("RDR") is getting a sequel after seven years. Rumor has it that the game will be available first for the console gamers before it finds its way to the PC.

According to reports, Rockstar has also chosen not to have "RDR 2" available for older consoles like the PS3 and Xbox 360. PC gamers will also be dismayed to hear that there has been no official news of a PC version of the game. The first "Red Dead Redemption" game was only available for the PS3 and Xbox 360, so the only way PC gamers could play it on their platforms was to install emulators.

The PlayStation Blog has also recently released a statement saying that Sony has decided to partner with Rockstar in the development of "RDR 2" and that Playstation players will be getting first access to select online content when the game releases next year.

"Red Dead Redemption" was famously known to the audience as "GTA in the Wild West." Gamers controlled John Marston, a former outlaw who traveled around the west as he attempted to hunt down gang members who were once his old friends.

The game was incredibly diverse, allowing people to do everything cowboy-related from hijacking trains on horses to herding cows in a farm.

One notable trademark of the game was also Marston's ability to use the "dead eye." The ability allowed the player to automatically aim at moving targets, making hunting animals and outlaws a definite treat.

No specific release date has been announced for "Red Dead Redemption 2," but fans can expect it to be released on the fall of 2017.
