There are rumors that Capcom's classic "Resident Evil" game title will have a modern version to be released in PS4 and Xbox One with a target release date sometime this year. Specifically, "Resident Evil 2" is reported to have a remake that aims to rejuvenate the horror theme that the fans first fell in love with. However, Capcom chose to become silent amid the speculations that the "Resident Evil 2" remake will be out soon.

Although recently, a recent video interview with Capcom's game producers Yoshiaki Hirabayashi and Yasuhiro Anpo as reported by Bloody Disgusting has revealed something about the rumored "Resident Evil 2" remake. While the two tried to keep the secrecy of the "Resident Evil" titles' future projects, they expressed their willingness to improve the current universe of the "Resident Evil" franchise by releasing new games that will feature the classic memories of the previous "Resident Evil" installments.

Hirabayashi was a part of the team that developed the GameCube remake of the original "Resident Evil" video games, most especially the "Resident Evil" HD Remastered version that was released earlier this year. Anpo, on the other hand, began his game developer career as a programmer for the first two "Resident Evil" video games. Later on, Anpo became the director of "Resident Evil 5" and "Revelations 2."

"As someone who worked on the original 'Resident Evil,' I have great memories of it," Anpo said. "The GameCube Remake is so amazing, I want to use those memories to try to catch up to and even supersede it with a new, modernized version of Resident Evil 2."

"We know just upgrading the graphics isn't enough," Hirabayashi added. "So we're working very hard to make a game you'll really love, so please look forward to it."

Fans have always hoped that "Resident Evil" will bring back the same elements of horror that made the franchise one of the most successful game series ever created. Since "Resident Evil 4," the franchise has slowly veered away from its original horror theme.
