'Rick and Morty' season 3 spoilers news: Is the show really happening in multiple dimensions? Will Rick ever leave jail?

It has been seven months since the conclusion of the second season of the animated series "Rick and Morty" and theories about what season 3 will have to offer have sprouted all over the web. The more popular fan-based speculations include Rick's time travel, his being detained in jail and then an attempt to break out of prison. However, some say that season 3 may never see these theories come to life.

In a write-up published on Gizmodo as per The Save Point Guild's theory, Rick will not rot in jail for a long time. There is a slim yet entirely rational chance that things are not really very horrible for Rick. There is the likelihood that a huge chunk of the second season was unfolding in a distinct multiverse as proved by the new universe with the previously gunned down Mr. Poopybutthole.

Another angle can be that the C-137 Rick is actually not locked away in an Intergalactic Federation prison but instead is still trading arms with the C-137 Krombopulos Michael, who might actually not be dead and be able to use his infiltration skills to help with the escape of the other Rick who is supposedly inside the Federation prison. After all, permeating strongly shielded facilities is not the only talent Krombopulos Michael is equipped with; he is also a skilled assassin.

This also defies the idea that "Rick and Morty" characters are actually traveling across time. They are in fact not; instead, they are existing in multiple dimensions or universes.

Meanwhile, iDigitalTimes wrote that many, if not all, theories published based on fans' speculations may not happen in the third season of "Rick and Morty." The outlet explained that the creators think differently from the viewers and so fans might be in for some surprises considering how convinced they are with their theories which are sometimes backed with extensive justifications.
