'Sense8' season 2 spoilers: Filming heads to Germany from Chicago, new episodes promise answers

"Sense8" season 2 is still in production. The cast and crew recently wrapped up its filming, which started earlier this month, in Chicago at the University of Chicago.

According to DNAinfo, a big scene filmed at the location involved 120 extras. There are also a couple of photos the crew and series creator Lana Wachowski at work at the university museum's Breasted Hall.

After the 10-day shoot at Chicago, the "Sense8" season 2 production is now headed to Germany. The filming has gone for a while as the cast and crew jump from one city to another.

In an interview with Gold Derby, show co-creator J. Michael Straczynski talked about the "Sense8" season 2's production in various locations across the world.

"We shot the entire show on location: San Francisco, Chicago, Mexico City, London, Iceland, Berlin, Mumbai, Nairobi and Seoul," Straczynski said.

"It was a tremendous road show. We wanted it to be authentic... Logistically it was a nightmare, but that made it feel more real," he continued.

Straczynski explained that "Sense8," which follows a group of eight called sensates from around the globe who are mentally connected, simply proves that "we are better together than we are apart."

"Hopefully with time, as we become more and more one world, the empathy will extend beyond national borders," Straczynski said. He added that with that with politics and culture separating people, "Sense8" could not come at a better time.

On what to expect in "Sense8" season 2, Straczynski promised resolution to dangling threads in the first season. "The second season is about providing a lot of the answers to the questions that viewers had after seeing the first season," he promised.

"Sense8" season 2 is solely directed by only Lana this time, the first time in her career. She always worked with her sister Lily Wachowski in the past projects.

"Sense8" season 2 is set to premiere sometime next year.
