'Sherlock' season 4 spoilers news: Toby Jones' villain character leaked

Toby Jones is joining Benedict Cumberbatch and Martin Freeman in "Sherlock" season 4. | FOX

The role of "Wayward Pines" alum Toby Jones in "Sherlock" season 4 was kept under wraps by BBC when he was announced to star on the show, but details about the character appear to have leaked online already.

Spoiler Alert! The following contains potential plot spoilers for "Sherlock" season 4. Proceed only those who wish to know.

Jones will play the role of Culverton Smith, a villain from "The Adventure of the Dying Detective," a story written by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle in 1913. The information was pulled from his online curriculum vitae.

Cultbox describes Culverton as "small, frail [and] twisted" with a double chin and a bald head. Possessing knowledge on deadly diseases, Culverton attempts to kill Sherlock with an infected spring-loaded device in an ivory box.

Sherlock pretended to be sick in order to gain Culverton's attention and using his deduction skills and commitment, ultimately pin him for the so-called disease expert of his own nephew.

Jones will appear in the second episode of "Sherlock" season 4. It will be exciting to see all that come to life on the small screen. Cultbox believes both Jones and Benedict Cumberbatch will deliver an amazing retelling of this story.

"Sherlock" season 4 is currently in production. For this season, the cast and crew filmed in other sites other than its primary location, which is Cardiff.

Cumberbatch, his co-star Martin Freeman and the rest of the "Sherlock" squad recently filmed in Morocco. A few days ago, Cumberbatch was spotted in Cardiff again.

Interestingly, Carter Matt reports that "Sherlock" season 4 was also filmed in "a fairly memorable place in London." The past seasons of the hit series were primarily filmed in Cardiff, where co-executive Mark Gatiss does magic in another one of his popular projects – "Doctor Who."

"Sherlock" season 4 is expected to premiere either holiday of this year or early 2017.
