'Sleepy Hollow' season 4 news, release date: Fourth season to return in January 2017

Fox recently confirmed that the supernatural drama TV series "Sleepy Hollow" will be returning to the small screen in 2017 for a fourth season. However, the show's demon hunter Ichabod Crane (Tom Mison) will continue the fight against the supernatural without his partner, FBI Agent Abbie Mills (Nicole Beharie).

The network confirmed through a press release that season 4 of the show will be returning next year. Fans can catch the first episode of "Sleepy Hollow" on Friday, Jan. 6, 2017 at 9 p.m. EDT.

The fourth season will pick up right after the death of Abbie. Although Ichabod has lost one good partner, the demon hunter is expected to find new team members next season. In his battle against evil supernatural creatures, Ichabod will gain the help of Abbie's sister, Jenny (Lyndie Greenwood).

When Ichabod moves to Washington, D.C, he will also gain two new allies, Jake Wells (Jerry MacKinnon) and Alex Norwood (Rachel Melvin). Ichabod and his team will be working for a secret organization in the Capitol.

Wells will portray an expert on supernatural events. His character takes notes of and categorizes strange events for the organization. Wells' archives will help the team in future endeavors. In addition, Ichabod will be meeting an engineering wonder named Alex Norwood (Rachel Melvin).

Another character who will be introduced in the upcoming season is Secret Service Agent Diana (Janina Gavankar), who will take the place of Ichabod's late partner. The agent is a mother of a10-year-old girl named Molly Thomas (Oona Yaffe).

Although new characters will be joining the cast of season 4, fans can expect John Noble and Katia Winter to reprise their roles in the upcoming season. Furthermore, the Headless Horseman, who is portrayed by Neil Jackson, will be making an appearance in season 4.

The cast of "Sleepy Hollow" are reportedly filming scenes for season 4 in Atlanta.
