The second trailer for "Star Trek Beyond" will be released by Paramount Pictures on May 20 during a special event made especially for fans of the sci-fi franchise, which celebrates its 50th anniversary this year.

New footage from the movie will be broadcasted during the event. Apart from that, attendees, including the lucky fans who get to be there (via the week-long contest held by Paramount last May 2 to 6), will also be treated with an exclusive first look at unseen clips from "Star Trek Beyond."

Speaking of which, Paramount is expected to announce the 50 winners of the said contest where fans were asked to send their videos explaining how they go beyond as fans of Captain Kirk and company.

They will be given two tickets each to the "Star Trek Beyond" fan event. Those who will not win precious tickets from Paramount can opt to join the contest being held by Trek News.

Meanwhile, there will also be a Question & Answer session with "Star Trek Beyond" director Justin Lin who will, of course, be joined cast members and crew of the upcoming film. Surprises and special guest appearances also await fans in the event.

"As a lifelong fan of Trek, we wanted to do something special for the fans and we couldn't think of a better way to do that than creating an event dedicated to them in the year that we also come together to celebrate the series' amazing 50th year," Lin said of the event last month.

Going back to the new trailer for "Star Trek Beyond" to be showcased during the affair, fans hope that they will get to see a lot more of Idris Elba's Krall, who will be the central antagonist in the film. The first trailer only teased the new alien's menacing look and nothing more.

Just recently, cast member John Cho went so far as to say that "Star Trek Beyond" is the best out of the new "Star Trek" films and the one that best represents the core of the beloved franchise.

"When I read the script, my emotional impression was that it felt very much like the best of the original series. It felt like the series felt to me. And the first [film] that we made didn't entirely feel like that to me," Cho told Famous Monsters.
