'The Big Bang Theory' season 10 updates and spoilers: Penny's mother to be introduced in her wedding, what happens after Mary and Alfred hook up?

Top-rating CBS sitcom "The Big Bang Theory" concluded its ninth season recently with a pre-wedding dinner party for Leonard (Johnny Galecki) and Penny (Kaley Cuoco). The two got hitched previously, but they will have a formal wedding ceremony to give their friends and family a chance to witness the special event.

The season 9 finale ended with a cliffhanger, leaving fans craving for answers if Alfred (Judd Hirsch) and Mary really did hook up.Sheldon's mother Mary () is known as a widow and a devout Catholic woman, while Leonard's father Alfred recently got divorced. Apparently, the show's new couple went to the same hotel and same room after the party.

In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, showrunner Steve Molaro shed light on what's to come for season 10. Since there is a possibility that Mary and Alfred might push through with their relationship, there is also a chance that Sheldon (Jim Parsons) and Leonard become brothers. "Leonard's father and Sheldon's mother, all they did was go off and have a nightcap and turn off their phones," Molaro said. "I don't think there's any thoughts of those two actually getting married or running off to do anything like that. This is just an initial baby step in whatever that can be."

Speaking of marriage, Leonard and penny will soon tie the knot again which means that members of Penny's family should be present. Will her mother be finally introduced? "It's a little early to say for sure," Molaro told TV Line, "but we would very much like to meet Penny's mom and her brother, as well."

CBS has yet to announce an official premiere date for "The Big Bang Theory" season 9, but based on the previous seasons, the series will likely return to the small screen sometime around late September of this year.
