'The Blacklist' season 4 release date, spoilers news: Megan Boone's Liz to come back alive in next installment? New season expected to air in September or October

The final episode of "The Blacklist" season 3 airs this week, and fans are still looking into the possibility of Elizabeth "Liz" Keen (Megan Boone) coming back alive after her supposed death in episode 18.

Since there's a very slim chance that Liz would appear in the season finale, it is being widely speculated that Red's (James Spader) partner might get resurrected in "The Blacklist" season 4 instead. Many viewers have not yet come to terms with Liz's sudden death in the episode titled, "Mr. Solomon, Conclusion," where she died after saving her baby through a Caesarian operation following her and her husband Tom's (Ryan Eggold) escape from their assailants.

This could be the reason why many of the recent reports on "The Blacklist" season 4 would bring up the idea of Liz's possible resurrection, as this could make for an impactful story for the new season. Also, as TV Guide pointed out in its previous report, there are certain factors that could hint at Liz's death being fake.

One is the fact that Liz's relationship with Red, the main central character, has not yet been revealed. It is unlikely for the show to leave fans hanging with such an important question unanswered after the character's passing. Her death was also handled rather casually for someone whose role drives the story. If her death was real, at least the show would have highlighted it more.

Furthermore, Boone, who played the role since the first season, had to be written out of the script to allow her to take her maternity leave. Thus, it could mean that the actress might return in the next installment now that she has given birth.

Amid all these speculations though, NBC and series creator Jon Bokenkamp have kept mum and refused to spill out details about the next season. In an interview with Golden Spiral Media, Bokenkamp teased fans that there is so much to look forward to in "The Blacklist" season 4.

"We've got a lot of story to tell," he said.

Meanwhile, NBC has not yet announced the official premiere date of "The Blacklist" season 4. However, some reports claim that the next installment of the hit NBC crime thriller will come out either in September or October.
