The Flash (Grant Gustin) and Supergirl (Melissa Benoist) are teaming up for a special new mission: a supercharged musical performance.

Executive producer Greg Berlanti has announced musical crossover between "Supergirl" and "The Flash."There will be one musical-themed episode on each show.

"Some of you may know my own personal love of musicals and actors who have been in them, and we have a number of people who can sing across all the shows who will be making some very exciting appearances in the back half of the year," Berlanti said via Entertainment Weekly.

"The Flash" and "Supergirl" lead stars Gustin and Benoist themselves both have the singing chops. The two came straight out of the hit musical series "Glee."

Jesse L. Martin, who plays the role of Joe in "The Flash" as well as Jeremy Jordan, who portrays Winn Schott in "Supergirl" can also belt some tunes. But majority of the cast members of the former are musically-inclined.

Berlanti said that he will personally lead the charge on this "Supergirl" and "The Flash" musical crossover to practice his love for both musicals and superheroes. As for who the villain will be in this two-part special, he said:

"We've toyed with who potentially the villain could kind of be. My sense is we'll be very careful about how it is they kind of break into song and there will probably be an element of being in some character's head at the time."

This crossover is separate from the one set to happen this December across all four shows namely "Supergirl," "The Flash," "Arrow" and "Legends of Tomorrow."

In other related news, filmmaker and comic book writer Kevin Smith will direct an episode of "Supergirl." Meanwhile, it was also teased that one character from the DC TV universe will come out as gay.

"The Flash" season 3 premieres Tuesday, Oct. 4 while "Supergirl" season 2 premieres Monday, Oct. 10.
