"The Man in the High Castle," an Amazon original series, has been nominated for four Primetime Emmy awards this year. Also, it has been announced that the acclaimed series will make an appearance at the 2016 San Diego Comic-Con, which will be held later this week.

The series, based on Phillip K. Dick's novel of the same title, focuses on an alternate 1960 where the Nazis won the Second World War. The story follows a band of resistance fighters in Nazi-ruled America as they try to erase their own history after viewing a tape that showed them a world where the Nazis were defeated.

The second season of "The Man in the High Castle" will see showrunner Frank Spotnitz stepping down, but he will stay on as executive producer. There's no word yet on who will take his place for the upcoming season.

The show has received critical acclaim since its release, and it currently sits on an 8.1/10 rating on IMDb. Now the dystopian alternative history series has also become a strong contender for the upcoming 2016 Primetime Emmy Awards, where it received four nominations, namely:

Outstanding Production Design for a Narrative Contemporary or Fantasy Program (One Hour or More)
Outstanding Cinematography For A Single-Camera Series
Outstanding Main Title Design
Outstanding Special Visual Effects

Los Angeles Times noted that "The Man in the High Castle" has to compete with "Game of Thrones" in three out of the four categories that it was nominated for. The only category where "GoT" is not competing with "TMitHC" was in "Outsanding Main Title Design," where it competes instead with the likes of "Jessica Jones" and "Vinyl." "Game of Thrones" actually has the highest number of nominations, followed closely by "The People v. O.J. Simpson."

Meanwhile, The Christian Post reports that Amazon will be bringing the show to the much-anticipated San Diego Comic-Con 2016. The company will set up an Amazon Village directly across the Convention Center where fans can enjoy an "interactive experience" and get a close-up look of their favorite series throughout the four-day event. This year's Comic-Con will kick off Thursday, July 21 and run through Sunday, July 24.

"The Man in the High Castle" season 2 is expected to come out on Amazon later this year.
