Popular theologian Wayne Grudem has expressed his support for Donald Trump again after retracting his endorsement earler. He explained that he is voting for the Republican presidential nominee because his policies are better than Hillary Clinton's.

Grudem rescinded his support for Trump and urged him to withdraw from the presidential race after the release of a scandalous video where the real estate developer was heard bragging about groping and kissing women.

In an article for Townhall, the theologian noted that his retraction gained a lot of attention from the mainstream media. He said that he got numerous requests for interviews but he turned them all down.

Grudem stated that voting for Clinton is not an option for him. He explained that he is left with the choice to either vote for Trump or a third-party candidate "whose hopes of winning belong to fantasy, not reality."

He argued that voting for a third-party candidate would have the effect of electing Clinton because it would take away votes from Trump. He said that he would now vote on the basis of the candidate's policies since he finds both of them morally objectionable.

"It isn't even close. I overwhelmingly support Trump's policies and believe that Clinton's policies will seriously damage the nation, perhaps forever," he wrote.

"On the Supreme Court, abortion, religious liberty, sexual orientation regulations, taxes, economic growth, the minimum wage, school choice, Obamacare, protection from terrorists, immigration, the military, energy, and safety in our cities, I think Trump is far better than Clinton," the theologian continued.

Grudem said he is not persuaded by the objections of those who chose not to vote for Trump. He emphasized that voting for Trump does not mean that he approves of the candidate's treatment of women.

"Trump has a morally tainted past. I will be voting for him, not with joy but reluctantly because of his deplorable past mistreatment of women," he said.

Grudem noted that he has disagreements with Trump on some issues but these are outweighed by their similar stands on other subjects.

"My conclusion is that the most likely result of voting for Trump is that he will govern for the most part in the way he promises to do, bringing good to the nation in many areas," Grudem said.
