George R.R. Martin has become a celebrity author ever since the release of HBO's hit series, "Game of Thrones." The book series that the show is based on, "A Song of Ice and Fire" is currently waiting for the sixth book, "The Winds of Winter." Some rumors say that Martin has lost the manuscript, and it will delay the book even further.
According to Christian Daily, the loss of the manuscript could very well mean that the book's release will be delayed to 2018. Fans were initially expecting the book to be released this year, but constant delays have pushed it back to 2017.
Even if the "lost manuscript" rumor turns out to be false, others speculate that the delay could still be caused by Martin's current celebrity status. The author has numerous interviews and appearances that could have led to the delay of the sixth book. Not to mention, Martin is still working on another fantasy series called "Wild Cards."
For those who are still itching for more "A Song of Ice and Fire" books, Martin has just recently announced on his Livejournal the release of the illustrated anniversary hard cover edition of "A Game of Thrones." The book contains art from the board games and cards, as well as never-before-seen work from other artists.
Martin also advertised a book that he edited called "High Stakes," and it's part of the "Wild Cards" universe, written by Melinda M. Snodgrass. With "Game of Thrones" ending soon, fans might want to pick up another world that Martin has helped create. There's also a "Wild Card" TV series in the works.
While fans are disappointed that the release of "Winds of Winter" is still up in the air, the TV series is still sure to come out in 2017.
