Xiaomi Redmi 3 release date, specs news 2016: Three variants to arrive soon; Tenaa reveals specs

The Xiaomi Redmi 3 has been one of the most talked-about smartphone releases this year. According to the latest reports, the handset will arrive in the market in three variants — the Redmi 3S, Redmi 3A and an unidentified model, which is expected to come out anytime soon.

According to the Tenaa certification, the Redmi 3S and Redmi 3A variants have both passed the Chinese regulatory board requirements. Both devices are said to run on 2 GB of random access memory (RAM). Their features include a fingerprint scanner, a 5-inch high-definition liquid crystal display (HD LCD) and Adreno 405 graphics technology. Both smartphones will get 32 GB of internal storage capacity. There is no report yet if both phones will also get the expanded storage options via microSD card; however, there are rumors that they may have up to 128 GB of expandable storage capacity.

The privately owned Chinese electronics company has yet to confirm these reports; however, many fans believe that the devices' imminent release will happen anytime soon, following the Tenaa certification.

According to a report by Android Geeks, the devices were listed along with their codes. The three variants in the Tenaa website include the Xiaomi 2016036, Xiaomi 2016035 and Xiaomi 2016033.

Meanwhile, all three devices are expected to come with an octa-core processor, which is said to run at 1.4 GHz. The smartphones will all have 13 MP primary camera and an 8 MP front snapper. They will also carry a 4,000 mAh battery and will al run on a preinstalled Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow operating system.

The The Xiaomi Redmi 3 will also feature a dual-SIM support, along with the basic three connectivity options — 4G LTE, Bluetooth and Wi-Fi. Color variations of the upcoming smartphone are gray, silver and gold.

As of the moment, the company has yet to provide specific details with regard to the smartphone's development and release date. Fans are advised to take all reports with a grain of salt until Xiaomi officially announces the device.
