Reports say that the upcoming car will be different from the current hatchback, which is restricted from the U.S. market. The 2017 Honda Civic, while it is being built in Honda's manufacturing plant in Swindon in the U.K., will also be coming to the U.S. upon its release.

"This prototype is already on a very close level to mass production," Tsutamori said. "When you see the final car, you will probably think it's still the prototype."
