'Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.' season 4 news, spoilers: New season to explore Daisy's darker side? Ghost Rider to emerge?
By the end of "Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D." season 3, Daisy Johnson (Chloe Bennet), also known as Quake, had gone MIA following the death of her boyfriend Lincoln Campbell (Luke Mitchell).
With all that the character had gone through in the previous season, it now comes as no surprise that season 4 will reportedly unveil Daisy's darker and more ruthless side. With Lincoln's tragic death and the consequences of the events in "Captain America: Civil War" (2016), Daisy is expected to find herself veering farther and farther away from Agent Coulson (Clark Gregg) and the rest.
In an interview for Entertainment Weekly's Spoiler Room, Bennet spoke about the possibility of S.H.I.E.L.D. finding out how close her character got to joining Hive in season 3.
"The two people who know she did that are both dead, so no one else knows," the actress said. "There must be a moment coming up in the next season where she reveals that. I think she feels like she can't get close to people because wherever she goes, death follows. That hit home with her, especially this time."
Speaking with EW last month, Bennet revealed how the events in season 3 have affected Daisy's outlook and plans going forward.
"I think it makes her more ruthless being so close to what she thought was her own death," she said. "...I think it changes her in a way where she probably will face life with even more ruthlessness."
Meanwhile, rumors are emerging about the possibility of Ghost Rider appearing in "Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D." season 4.
According to TVLine, among the roles being cast for the ABC show's upcoming season are those of two Latino brothers, one of whom is paralyzed and is in a wheelchair. The other is described as "always the most dangerous person in the room."
As Digital Spy noted, the description for the latter fits that of Robbie Reyes, one of the incarnations of Ghost Rider. In the comics, Robbie's brother Gabriel is disabled.
"Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D." season 4 premieres Sept. 20 on ABC.
