Android 5.0.2 Lollipop Update On Nexus 6 Possible With CyanogenMod 12

ANDROID

Devices that have the Android 5.0 Lollipop operating system can try out the new customized version of the operating system created by CyanogenMod. This is good news especially for those who own the Nexus 6, which came loaded with the new Android operating system.

The announcement of the CyanogenMod 12 nightlies coming to the Nexus 6 came via the CyanogenMod blog where a post indicated that the company "considered itself 85 percent ready for our initial CM12 M release and that during the rest of the month we will bring up additional devices and finish up the features you've come to love from CM11 while implementing them into the new Material UI."

The Nexus 6 codename "Shamu" was on the list of 30 devices that are due to receive CyanogenMod 12 nightlies. Those who choose to get the CyanogenMod 12 nightlies will get a software update every day, an offer warmly welcomed by users.

That said the CyanogenMod 12 nightlies is going to be based on the Android 5.0.2 Lollipop which is rumored to release the Nexus 6 sometime this week. Earlier last week, the Nexus 7 with WiFi became the first device to receive. News of it coming to other devices soon spread. Some sites even suggested "flashing" the factory image on the Nexus 7 and Nexus 10 as it is the easiest way to receive the upgrade.

As for the CyanogenMod 12 nightlies another site stated that the nightlies could last for sometime after which there could be a "milestone" released. Compared to the nightlies the milestone only releases once every 28 or 30 days.

Coming to the features of the CyanogenMod 12 nightlies, they include a theme engine, reorganization and customization of quick settings, a quick settings ribbon mode, customization of the sound panel and quick unlock for the lock screen. The company said they are working on the plan.
