'Ark: Survival Evolved' Release Date: Brings 70 Species of Dinosaurs to PS4, Xbox One and PC in 2016
"Ark: Survival Evolved," an open world game filled with dinosaurs, is expected to come to Steam Early Access this June, a post in the PlayStation blog announced recently. The game will ultimately be released for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC about one year later in 2016.
The blog revealed that when the dinosaur survival game lands on the PS4, it will be compatible with the VR headset that is currently being developed by Sony with the codename Project Morpheus. Jesse Rapczak, the founder and technical director of Studio Wildcard, wrote the blog post, saying that the advanced hardware on the PS4 coupled with the VR headset will provide gamers with an unparalleled immersive experience.
The game in its open world format will see players waking up as a man or woman on a beach without any clothes. On this unknown island, they will encounter a number of prehistoric and mythological beasts and dinosaurs. About 70 species of dinosaurs will be featured in the game. Players will be able to tame, domesticate and ride every one of them.
However, initially, the players will have to hunt these beasts to survive the harsh weather which brings high temperatures in the daytime and sub-zero conditions at night.
Initially, the players just need to survive in the game as they collect food and create shelters. They will then be directed to ride and domesticate the dinosaurs they create using sophisticated technology. They will also explore deserts and swamps and create underwater bases.
The Steam Early Access version of the game will feature about 30 creatures that can be hunted or tamed along with different weather conditions. It will also allow gamers to build and paint structures in a realistic manner and even grow crops.
"Ark: Survival Evolved" is being created by independent developer Studio Wildcard using the Unreal Engine 4. The developer announced that it will also release Linux and Mac versions of the game.
